Kevin started at WTHI in December of 1982. He currently serves as the weeknight meteorologist for News 10 First @ FIve, News 10 at 6 p.m., myFOX10 and News 10 Nightwatch. He initially began in the promotion department, but soon moved to the News 10 Midday as host and meteorologist and did fill-in work on the nightly news. By 1985, he was doing evening weather full-time.
While at WTHI, Kevin has been the recipient of the Hamilton Award, the Abe Malooly Award for his work with United Cerebral Palsy of the Wabash Valley, recognized as a Distinguished Alumni of Vincennes University and awarded the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorology Society. He has been nominated for best weather presentation by the Ohio Valley Emmys and has won best weathercast by the Indiana Broadcasters’ Association.
Before his tenure at WTHI, Kevin worked as a disc jockey for a number of radio stations. His first broadcasting job was at WARU radio in Peru, Indiana, when he was 15 years old. He has continued in broadcasting ever since.
Serving as meteorologist for WTHI, Kevin has covered several significant weather events, including the drought of 1988, the Great Flood of 2008 and the snow and cold of January 2014. There have been several other events, including tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and bitter cold.
Kevin is a native of Peru, Indiana, where he played trumpet in the Circus Band for 7 years. He attended Vincennes University and Indiana State University. His hobbies include model HO trains and he has an extensive library, mainly on the topics of ancient history, religion and magic. He has one daughter, Christine, who resides in California.
