Kevin is a native of Peru, Indiana.
He attended Peru High School, Vincennes University and Indiana State University.
He came to WTHI in 1982, first working in the promotions department while filling in for on-air weather talent. In July of 1984, Kevin became co-host of the Midday Report with Cork McHargue. Kevin did the weather and interviewed special guests. In November of 1985, Kevin was promoted to Chief Meteorologist, a position he held until April of 2011, when he moved back to duties as Midday and weekend meteorologist. At that time he began a series of special reports called, “Hey Kevin”. Kevin answered questions from viewers about the weather and other sky related topics. In December of 2013, Kevin returned to doing the evening weather on WTHI while continuing to produce his, “Hey Kevin” segments.
Kevin also writes a popular daily column for many regional newspapers about weather facts, folklore, astronomy and other items of interest.
Kevin is known for his humorous and informative after dinner speeches. In addition, he often travels to areas schools to talk to students about weather, astronomy and climate.
A self-titled, “Keeper of Weatherlore”, Kevin often talks and writes about natural signs and other weather folklore topics. For this, he is listed with Indiana State University as an Active Keeper of Weather Folklore.
He has one daughter, Christine, and resides in Terre Haute.
