Lindsey Monroe joined Storm Team 10 in January 2012 as the morning and midday meteorologist and stepped into a management roll with the Storm Team in January 2014.
In 2014, she was honored with her first Emmy nomination for weather and was awarded the Indiana Broadcasters Association’s Spectrum Award for Best Weathercast. She also received recognition from the Associated Press for “Outstanding Weather Operation”.
She got her start in broadcasting as a weather anchor for NewsLink Indiana, which airs in eight counties throughout east-central Indiana on the local WIPB-TV affiliate as well as the local NPR station. She also completed an internship at WTHI’s sister station, WISH-TV in Indianapolis, IN.
During the summer of 2011, Lindsey had the opportunity to participate in an 18-day storm chasing field observation study in the Great Plains. Here, she came within a half mile of a tornado in central Nebraska and witnessed severe weather at its deadliest. She plans to use this hands-on forecasting experience to keep the Wabash Valley safe when severe weather strikes.
Lindsey is from Cambridge City, Indiana and is a graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and Climatology with a minor in Telecommunications.
When not forecasting the weather, Lindsey enjoys participating in volunteer and community service efforts. She has been a proud supporter of the Lupus Foundation of America ever since she was diagnosed with lupus in 2004. She has also worked with the Children’s Miracle Network, which raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America.
