One dead, one arrested after early morning shooting

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – One man arrested after shooting another man early Saturday morning.

Around 1:00 a.m., Terre Haute police officers responded to a shooting at 1900 23rd ½ Drive.

They found a man lying inside the residence with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Medics declared the man dead at the scene.

About an hour later, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses near the intersection of 13th Street and Tippecanoe Street.

Following that, officers found the suspect, Kevin A. Williams, at the Terre Haute Days Inn.

Williams was arrested on preliminary charges of Murder and Possession of a Firearm without a License.

Willie L. Jenkins was arrested for preliminary charges of Obstruction of Justice and False Reporting.

Janet Akers was arrested for a preliminary charge of Assisting a Criminal.
