Vigo County GOP kicks off election season

Vigo County GOP meeting

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Vigo County GOP kicked off the 2014 election season Saturday morning.

The public was invited to the Holiday Inn Apple Club for the meeting.

This is the first of their monthly breakfast meeting.

The special speaker was former Olympic ice skating legend and now mayor of Marion, Wayne Seybold.

He compared politics to sports, saying the career changes as the years go on.

“At some point, you know your career is over, right? Your body just can’t take it anymore, or you’re one step behind. And I think it’s the same thing with some of these political jobs. Things change. They get a lot faster…Maybe there needs to be some people that have more of a vision, you know, going forward,” said Wayne Seybold, three-term mayor of Marion, Indiana.

Mayor Seybold also used this as way to kick off his race for Indiana state treasurer.
