The Vigo County Election board adopted a new resolution this week.

The new policy makes Vigo a Central Count County.

This means all absentee votes will be sent back to the county courthouse to be counted, instead of individual precincts.

Vigo County Clerk Dave Crockett says a new Indiana law required the change.

“It’s really kind of a cost saving measure. We don’t have to have people transporting those ballots back out to different places to be counted, “Crockett said.

Crockett adds the new system will make voting more convenient for everyone involved. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
