TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTHI) – Some Wabash Valley students got a chance to compete for a cash prize Thursday.
The Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club held its annual Oratorical contest. Its goal is to give students public speaking experience.
Students also competed for the chance to speak at the regional level, which could lead to a college scholarship.
Competitors were given the topic, ‘How your passions will change the world?’ Students say they were happy for the chance to participate.
“It meant a lot today that I was able to give this talk because if my passions can inspire one person to get into the math and science field I feel like our world will be a better place,” said Elizabeth Beddow, student.
Students in both middle and high school competed in Thursday’s event.
