After 151 years, Heinl’s Flower Shop closes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A flower shop in Downtown Terre Haute has closed their doors for good.

The motto of Heinl’s Flower Shop – ‘151 years and still blooming’ but this Valentines Day they will no longer be in business.

This decision was made after a devastating water pipe burst on Jan. 9 and caused extensive damage to the design area, show room and an upstairs apartment.

The shop was originally going to re-open after repairs were made but, owner Vonda Monts said the loss of business led to her final decision to close for good.

She said this is a sad day for her and the business that she bought in 2001.

Monts plans to restore the building but what she will do with it has not been decided. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
