Displaced students back in their dorms

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – About 25 Indiana State University students were temporally displaced from their dorm rooms this week.

A water pipe on the 7th floor of Rhoads Hall burst during the day on Tuesday.

Maintenance crews cut off the water to the pipe quickly to minimize damage.

Some students reported some minor damage.

The university is not liable for this type of damage, so this is why ISU recommends students carry renter’s insurance on their rooms.

“They either need to have renter’s insurance, or they need to check and see if the student’s homeowner’s policy will cover them while they’re away at college,” Dave Taylor from ISU said.

The students who were displaced moved back into their rooms on Wednesday.
