Pancake breakfast at Fowler Park

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The Vigo County Parks Department hosted their 27th annual Pancake Breakfast Saturday at Fowler Park.

For just $5 folks were served a large stack of pancakes and sausage. But the specialty was the pure maple syrup.

For the Parks Department it’s their opportunity to showcase to the community the syrup that is made on site at Prarie Creek Park.

And making that syrup isn’t easy.

“It’s a very labor intensive process. It takes about 40 gallons of sugar water to produce one gallon of maple syrup,” said Kara Kish, superintendent Vigo Count Parks Department. “Our guys have been working hours and hours and hours every single year to produce this maple syrup, so this is our opportunity to showcase it.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser go to improving county parks.

And you can still try out the breakfast Sunday morning from 8 until 1 p.m.
