‘Black ice’ causes morning travel issues

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department responded to several crashes Tuesday morning due to icy road conditions.

Officials reported county roads were still ice covered Tuesday morning while main roads like U.S. Highway 41 and Interstate 70 were covered with a glaze of transparent ‘black ice’.

Bridges and overpasses were also extremely slick and hazardous.
