Vigo County neighborhood facing flooding woes

The recent snow melt has left many Vigo County streets under water.

Residents in northern Vigo County are seeing flooding.

We visited East Southwood Avenue, about a mile from Sky King Airport.

Homeowners say there are issues with flooding every year.

The neighborhood has a well meant to help ease overrunning water.

One homeowner says the location prevents it from being very useful.

“The problem is all the water from the entire neighborhood flows downhill to this road. So it carries all of the debris, the leaves, the rocks and whatever with it. And it fills up the tanks, so there’s nowhere for the water to go,” resident Kaylee Lumaye said.

Lumaye and her neighbors say they’ve reached out to the county for help, but haven’t had any luck. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
