New business fuses coffee and potatoes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A new business is sprouting in downtown Terre Haute.

Tater and Joe’s Coffee Grounds opened for business Monday. Part of the name may seem familiar.

The new restaurant is the site of the former Coffee Grounds on Wabash Avenue.

A new owner teamed up with workers from the former shop, and the fusion’s pretty unique.

The shop will specialize in selling coffee and potato dishes. Owners said the unique combination is already drawing buzz.

“Have a great coffee shop. Have all the same great bake foods we had and have great delicious baked potatoes along the way,” Michael Wilson, manager of the shop said.

The shop hopes to have its potato kitchen fully operational in the next few weeks. However, the coffee shop is currently open.

The business is just one of 200 plus restaurants in Terre Haute. News 10 checked on a few of the others with plans to open.
