VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – Vinncennes City Fire crews made quick work of a small fire Monday in Kemp’s Music Store. The fire, according to officials, was extinguished quickly and in the duct work of the music store’s upper level.
Crews responded to the call on Second Street in Vincennes around 5:00 afternoon. Vincennes City police staged a perimeter around the intersections circling the store front for safety. Several cars were forced to find alternate routes around the scene.
An official responding to the incident believed the fire may have started when some of the store’s ceiling insulation got to hot; but a confirmed cause was not immediately available.
Kemp Music and its adjoining store fronts sits directly across the street from a vacant lot, where the Gimbel Corner Building once sat, which was destroyed by fire in December 2011.
There was no immediate information available regarding injuries or if any property was damaged in the fire.
