Contest awards money for texting safety posts

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana agencies will reward high school and college students for their top social media posts urging others to “Drive Now. TXT L8R.”

They said Tuesday that $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who compose the most creative and viral social media posts on Twitter, Instagram and Vine delivering that message.

High school and college entries will be awarded separately in five categories: most likes and most creative on Vine, and most likes and most creative on Instagram, and, on Twitter, the post with most tweets, retweets and favorites.

Registration and rules are at http://www.txtl8r.in.gov . Entries must be posted during April.

The contest is being sponsored by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, State Police, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the state departments of Labor and Transportation.
