INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Marion County prosecutor’s office has filed charges against a man they say pretended he had stage 4 cancer.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jonathan Fox Sr. According to police, Fox held fundraisers and asked people for donations to help pay for his medical bills.

Court documents show that Fox tricked Indiana State Rep. Karlee Macer. She gave Fox $750 after he asked for help in paying for his rent and Christmas for his children.

Fox is also accused of holding a fundraiser at the Speedway Moose Lodge where he collected $1,084. He also admitted to taking money from a widow who gave him $500.

Fox is currently being charged with three counts of theft. Police say Fox admitted he misled people for four years. According to police, Fox is cooperating with investigators and he plans to turn himself in Tuesday afternoon.
