Traffic stop reveals drugs and stolen gun

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A traffic stop on Monday night led police to a drug bust and a stolen deputy’s gun.

Indiana State Police said they pulled over a car speeding on 3rd Street. Once pulled over, a K-9 Unit detected marijuana.

In a fake barbasol container they also found a 45 Kimber handgun that had been reported stolen by a Vigo County Reserve Deputy.

David Rudisel and Ashlee Melvin, both from Terre Haute, were arrested.

Rudisel faces charges of possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana and Melvin faces charges of criminal conversion.

They’re both being held in the Vigo County jail.
