VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in western Vigo County received a very generous gift on Tuesday.
Toyota of Terre Haute gave the school a donation of $50,000. The money will go towards the new sports and recreation center the university is building.
Toyota presented the check to President Dottie King, Ph.D. during a ceremony at Guerin Hall.
Officials say they were happy to be able to help.
“I think Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is a very important part of our community,” said Scott Jaeger, Toyota of Terre Haute president. “The sports and recreation center was a need for the school. For students, but also for what it’s doing for the community in terms of wellness.”
The Jeanne Knoerlee Sports and Recreation Center will house a 1,000 seat gym as well as athletic offices and practice facilities.
