TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Today Brown Avenue in Terre Haute got a makeover.
Volunteers came together to plant one hundred trees in the area. More than 100 student volunteers from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana State University woke up bright and early.
After a quick training session they began planting. the event was part of the 25th annual Trees, Inc. Spring planting.
The trees will make for a better landscape and will also help capture storm water runoff.
“Trees, Inc. Is a volunteer organization that is trying to promote the beautification of the city, much of which is through the planting of tree, and we think these kind of projects are very important to show people that planting trees helps the community as a whole,” said Brian Conley, VP of Trees, Inc.
The project to plant more trees throughout the city will continue through April.
