Race Day tradition coming to an end

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHI) – This May will mark a swan song for a race day tradition.

Jim Nabors will sing “Back Home Again In Indiana” at the Indianapolis 500 for the final time this year. Nabors first sang at the race in 1972 and has returned 34 times since then.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will honor and thank Nabors for his years of performance during race weekend, a release said.

Plans for who will sing “Back Home Again In Indiana” from now on won’t be discussed until after this year’s race.
