IU football player hospitalized over spring break returns to school

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – An Indiana University football player hurt while on spring break is back at school.

Isaac Griffith’s father, Shannon Griffith, confirmed the news on Twitter late Saturday night. Griffith, a red-shirt freshman wide receiver, was discharged from the hospital last Sunday in Florida.

He returned home to northern Indiana this week before heading back to Bloomington.

Police say Griffith was caught in a rip tide in Florida after he and some friends had been drinking. A friend saved him. Griffith had been in a coma.
