Clay County setting healthy example

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Clay County is setting an example when it comes to health and wellness.

Deborah Ringo, CEO for both Vigo and Clay counties YMCA’s, states that though Clay County is far from leading the state in health and wellness — she’s excited about Clay County’s progress over just the last few years.

Ringo credits those in that portion of the Wabash Valley who have begun to take responsibility for their own personal health.

She also cites the threat of hitting people’s wallet as terribly motivating!

In other words, the soaring cost of health insurance can be enough to whip people into shape. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
