North Lawndale College Prep(Chicago) Jr. Kiera Brooks verbally committed to Sycamore coach Teri Moren on Tuesday. After visiting the campus with her high school coach Corey Morgan and younger sister Kia Brooks she just loved it and she feels the winning environment around the campus is exactly what she is looking for.

The 5-7 Brooks is an explosive athlete playing the 1-2-3 guard who can effectively create off the dribble or play with her back to the basket. She is equally comfortable playing a finesse or power game. She loves the game and works to improve daily.

Kiera had scholarship offers on the table from Northern Illinois in addition to Indiana State but after the Sycamore coaches had and opportunity to sit down and talk with Kiera, her mother and high school coach Corey Morgan, the decision was made to speed up the recruitment cycle and come and visit the school.

She also considered the University of Toledo, Southern Illinois-Carbondale, University of New Mexico, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Brooks season averages for the 2013/2014 high school season, 18.7 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg and 2 spg for a team that lost to eventual state champion Whitney Young in the sectional semi-finals. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
