Time to think about rain barrels

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – With plenty of rain in our future that can only mean it is time to start thinking about rain barrels!

The Vigo County Soil and Conservation District is beginning its barrel sale for the 5th year in a row.

Rain barrels collect and store water from down spouts. The 55 gallon barrels come in black, gray, blue and terra cotta.

The barrels are $65 each and officials say they are very beneficial to households.

“It’s naturally soft water and there’s no chemicals in it so its good for your garden and good for your plants,” said Becky Steele, administrative assistant for Vigo Co. Soil and Water Conservation District. “A lot of people also use it to wash windows and wash cars.”

The organization will be taking orders until April 23.

To place orders just call (812) 232-0193. The expected delivery date is April 29 and 30 at the Vigo County Fairgrounds.
