Scottish group takes part in national celebration

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Sunday April 6th is National Tartan Day.

Tartan Day is designated to celebrate the Scottish heritage.

The Wabash Valley Scottish Society is inviting anyone interested in the Scottish history to attend a meeting at the Vigo County Public Library.

It will be held this Saturday, April 5th from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

Officials say it will be a great way to learn more about the Scottish culture.

“We give away a thousand dollars every year for academic studies when someone wants to study about Scottland or Wales or England or Ireland. We also give away $500 scholarships for people who want to learn bag pipes, the drums, highland dance or anything of that nature,“ Richard Cooper, from the Wabash Valley Scottish Society said.

The Wabash Valley Scottish Society holds a meeting every first Saturday of each month.
