National Volunteer Week, how you can help

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – This week is National Volunteer Week.

It’s a proclamation made by President Obama.

Volunteer Week is about inspiring people to seek out ways to engage with their communities.

It’s also a time to give thanks to volunteers.

News 10 stopped by Chances and Services for Youth Wednesday.

It’s an organization that ensures children grow up in safe environments.

Officials say the work of volunteers is invaluable.

“We just appreciate any volunteer we can get. If its an hour or a year we appreciate everything in between. And it’s crucial for us to keep running to have our volunteers,” Rachel Roams, from Chances told us.
