INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Fire officials say a house fire on the city’s north side Saturday afternoon caused an estimated $300,000 in damages.

It happened in the 7800 block of Clearwater Cove Drive, which is near North Keystone Avenue and East 82nd Street. Firefighters were called there at 12:25 p.m.

According to a release, neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from the porch area. Fire traveled up the wall and into the roof line, firefighters say.

It took 20 minutes to get the fire under control. One firefighter was slightly injured and taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital for difficulty breathing.

The couple who lives in the house was not home at the time of the fire. The incident is under investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
