TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Today is the deadline to file taxes with the IRS.

Larrison’s Tax Service in Terre Haute said the day kept them fairly busy with last-minute filers.

By using a tax professional, they will make sure you have everything you need to file your taxes on time. If you choose to go on your own, make sure you have the correct social security numbers on the return, and be sure it’s signed and dated.

“I encourage anybody that does their own tax return to e-file it, do it on-line.  That will eliminate a lot of common errors in addition and subtraction,” said Mike Perkins, Larrison’s Tax Service.

Don’t forget, if you’re mailing your tax returns to have them to the post office by 7 p.m. Otherwise, it will be considered late.

The US Postal Service stated the Margaret Avenue station will stay open until 7 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
