Are you feeling the “Pollen Vortex””?

TERRE HAUTE (WTHI) – Allergies have been on our mind since spring has sprung, but you may be noticing them a little more than usual. We can partially thank the “polar vortex” for the now “pollen vortex”.

“Some days are just so bad that it can’t be helped so you just lock yourself away and hope it goes away,” said Haley Hale, who’s suffering from allergies.

“I’ve been getting a lot of sinus headaches more frequently and I think it’s due to the flowers and trees starting to blossom,” said Matthew Janeway, who is also battling the allergy season.

“Nyquil is really the only thing you can do. Just take allergy medicine and deal with it,” said Alice Santell, allergy sufferer.

If you haven’t lost your mind from battling the allergies like me you’ve definitely lost your nose to congestion and probably itchy eyes.

The next five days are exploding with allergens across the Wabash Valley leaving a high risk of tree pollens in the area.

The “polar vortex” that seems like a lost phrase we tried to leave behind this winter is now spawning “spring” problems.

Allergists say they are now being bombarded by allergens which are causing extremely high pollen counts.

From the cold winter and all the snow trees have been in hibernation or delayed from being able to release pollen until now creating a burst you have to sneeze off. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
