Terre Haute receives a green honor

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The city of Terre Haute received some special honors Friday.

This is after the city was named 2013 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.

This is in honor of the city’s commitment to effective urban forest management.

This is the 8th Tree City USA Growth Award for Terre Haute.

Terre Haute achieved recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements.

Those requirements are a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
