INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — State officials are inviting the public to tour the newly renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum on Thursday.

The Indiana State Fair Commission will hold a public Open House there from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event and parking are both free of charge.

Fairgrounds staff discuss the $63 million renovation and new features of the building. Staff members of the Indy Fuel minor league hockey team and the IUPUI basketball program also will be on hand. Both teams will make the Coliseum their home.

Earlier in the day Gov. Mike Pence and others will formally open the renovated arena.

The 75-year-old Coliseum opened in 1939 as a Works Progress Administration project. The current renovation began Oct. 29, 2012. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
