Body found in White River, ruled drowning

LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTHI) – A southern Indiana woman who was reported missing on April 2 was found on April 20 just before 10:30 in the White River.

Christina Wright, 41 from Shoals, was reported missing by her family on April 2 after she was last seen leaving her home. Her family believed her to be in harm and an active missing person case’s was initiated.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Department was unable to locate Wright after following multiple leads and she was entered into Indiana Data and Communications System (IDACS) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a missing person.

A 911 call was placed to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday about a body found in the White River near Loogootee. An autopsy performed on Monday determined the body found was Wright and that the cause of death determined to be drowning.
