VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A local Indiana State Police trooper was named ‘Trooper of the Year.’

David Petrowski, a seven year veteran, received the ‘Trooper of the Year’ award for 2012. Trooper Petrowski was selected by his peers and the Putnamville District command staff.

Petrowski works the night shift in Vigo County and in 2012, he arrested 47 impaired drivers and made 93 criminal arrests.

37 of those were felonies, mostly drug related.

Petrowski was raised in Vigo County and graduated from Terre Haute North High School and Indiana State University with an Associate Degree in Criminology.

Media Note: The delay in the presentation of this 2012 award was due to a logistical issue outside the control of the Putnamville District.
