TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – One of the Wabash Valley’s very own made a stop back home on Saturday.

NFL punter Steve Weatherford came back to Terre Haute for his annual Rush the Punter charity event.

Kids got a chance to get outside and enjoy the nice weather at Fairbanks Park. Kids could take part in a 5-K and one mile fun run.

The New York Giants punter was happy to be home and was glad to share this moment with his young fans.

“This city and this community have done so much for me as far as facilitating my energies into something positive… it’s a no brainer for me to come back here and share with the kids and help motivate them,” Weatherford said.

This was the third year for this event and proceeds will go towards the United Way. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
