Longtime Lawrenceville radio legend dead at 58

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ill. (WTHI) – One longtime Lawrenceville radio legend passed away Monday at a hospital in Evansville.

Kent Lankford, 58 of Lawrence County, was the general manager of WAKO, Lawrenceville’s only radio station.

“Oh he was Lawrenceville radio … he grew up in it … he knew that this was the radio and he wanted it .. we’re not only going to miss him, we’re going to miss his production and the things that he does here at the radio station,” said Stuart Lankford, Kent’s father and owner, WAKO.

A visitation will be held for Kent Lankford Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville between the hours of 3 and 6 CST.
