Reopening a cold case

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Vigo County Sheriff’s office constantly investigates 11 unsolved murders from the past, dating back to 1975.

There are a number of positives and negatives for looking at a case more than 30 years after the crime occurred.

Luckily for the local sheriff’s department, former Sheriff Bill Harris volunteers his time to dig through the old notes, photos and crime scene details to find changes and updates in the various cases.

The sheriff’s department is currently looking at the case of Gloria Hedden.

Hedden went missing after she left work the evening of July 9, 1980. She was found on July 12 by fishermen, floating in the Wabash River. She was bound at the hands and feet by a cable.
