SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Shelbyville arrested a couple wanted in reference to a threat of abducting a child.

Shelby County dispatchers confirmed 31-year-old Robert Clawson and 18-year-old Desiree D. Cox are in police custody. A caller reported the couple walking down the road around 9 a.m. Friday and notified police.

Shelbyville News first reported the Shelbyville Police Department were following up on leads the two were on a moped and looking to abduct a child on Thursday.

The couple is wanted out of White County on theft charges. Police say a judge suspended their sentence, but then revoked it. The couple was called back to White County and described by police as dangerous.

State Police said they were attempting to serve the warrant in White County when they came across information that they deemed significant enough to put out the statewide warning about a possible child abduction.
