TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The first Saturday of May often marks an important day for thousands of young men and women around the Wabash Valley.

For two local colleges, it was graduation day.

At Indiana State University, thousands of students and families celebrated the school’s spring commencement.

More than 17,000 students walked across the stage to receive their diploma. Saturday’s ceremony was at Hulman Center in downtown Terre Haute. This was ISU’s 143rd graduation.

76 students from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College walked down the aisle.

The Cecilian Auditorium was filled with family as well as friends of this year’s graduates. This year’s commencement speaker focused on the importance of networking.
