Prominent figure in local radio dies in motorcycle accident

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Daviess County Sheriff’s Department responded to a motorcycle accident Wednesday morning at the intersection of Old US 50 and CR 150 W.

Officials report Bradley Deetz was driving a 2008 Yamaha approaching the intersection of County Road 150 W. where a 1999 Chevy pickup, driven by Ernest Colbert, was at the stop sign.

Colbert stated he looked both ways and did not see any oncoming traffic. As he pulled into the intersection heading south, Deetz’s Yamaha crashed into the passenger side of the pickup.

Deetz was thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported to Daviess Community Hospital and later flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he was pronounced dead.

Deetz was the morning show host on MAX 96.7 as well as the General Manager of DLC Media who managers and operates MAX 96.7 WFML owned by Vincennes University and owns and operates WAMW radio in Washington and WAXI in Rockville.

“Brad first of all was a great broadcaster, and when you’re a great broadcaster in a small community like ours, you connect with people on a daily basis, and over the past 25 years Brad was that familiar voice that people woke up to on the radio this morning, we’re still in shock,” Dave Crooks, owner of DLC Media said.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Deetz leaves behind a wife and two teenage children, he was 46 years old.
