Sheriff’s Shootout helps good cause

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Some Wabash Valley golfers teed off for a good cause.

On Friday, The Hamilton Center in Terre Haute held the 23rd annual Sheriff’s Shootout.

Golfers gathered at the Rea Park Golf Course to hit some links.

Over 40 teams were in attendance.

Friday’s festivities also included a lunch and awards reception.

Officials say the event helped the Hamilton Center spread a very important message.

“Hamilton Center provides community mental health through 11 counties and what we want people to understand that we know that individuals are struggling out there mentally with mental challenges and Hamilton Center is here to help,” Mel Burkes said.

The money raised will benefit the Child and Adolescent division of Hamilton Center. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
