Vigo County home declared unfit, animal neglect case

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a case of animal neglect in western Vigo County.

Sheriff Greg Ewing stated deputies responded to 3291 North Howe Place after reports of deplorable conditions of the animals inside the home.

County records show the residence is owned by Mary Ann Moore. Officials report a foul odor was coming from the residence when deputies arrived on scene.

Seven dogs and four cats were found inside the home. The dogs were caged with no water or food and a decaying dog and cat was found.

The Vigo County Building Inspector and the Vigo County Board of Health declared the residence unfit for human habitation.
