INDIANA (WTHI) – Indiana Representative Kreg Battles announced his resignation on Friday morning, stating he will not seek re-election this fall.
Battles has held that seat since 2006 but he reported he is resigning to spend more time with his family.
“I have an absolute peace with it, my grandsons are the love of my life. They are the absolute number one priority, and I hope it doesn’t sound hokey or Pollyanna, uh but truly, it is about them and it is about making sure I have time for them, and to make sure that they are the focus of our life,” Battles said.
Indiana’s Democratic Party says it will now start vetting candidates to run in Battles place this fall.
Battles would have went on the ballot as an incumbent vying to keep his seat against Bruce Borders.
Battles is a Vincennes native and was an educator for 30 years.
