VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – A Vincennes man is behind bars in connection with several burglaries over the past few nights.
Just after midnight Friday, Vincennes Police officers responded to an alarm at McCoy’s Grocery.
When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a break-in.
According to police, witness observed a man running with a cash register, and entering a home.
After obtaining a search warrant, police recovered stolen items from burglaries reported over the past week, including Bethlehem General Church and a home on Eberwine Street.
After more investigation, police determined the suspect to be connected to burglaries at Quickies Sandwich Shop, Superior Auto, Impressed Coffee, Halter’s Market, and Norge Village and Cleaners.
Police arrested 20-year-old Garrett D. Melton on various charges, including Fraud on a Financial Institution, theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, possession of Marijuana, and a probation violation.
Melton is being held in the Knox County Jail.
