TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Locals in Terre Haute were out scrubbing cars for police officers on Saturday afternoon.
It was a fundraiser for two Terre Haute Police Officers who were recently diagnosed with serious illnesses.
Both are undergoing intense medical treatment.
Those participating say local police put their lives on the line for them every day so they want to pay that back by helping with medical expenses.
“The police department is out every day for us. So why can’t we step up and do something for them,” said James Robertson. “Two of their own are fighting major illnesses and we need to step up and say, hey look, we’re here for you as well. Let’s get some money to help them pay their bills and get better.”
Theys will be out tomorrow from 12 to 4 p.m. beside the Dairy Queen off of Fort Harrison in Terre Haute.
