Accident leaves 10-year-old seriously injured

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A 10-year-old girl is seriously injured after the bicycle she was driving was struck by a car.

Just after 5:00 Tuesday evening, emergency crews responded to the crash on Lake and Columbus Streets in the town of Staunton.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Saturn car, being driven 17-year-old Kay-Lynn Ethington of Brazil was driving westbound on Columbus Street, when 10-year-old Brianna Robertson rode into the path of Ethington’s car.

The investigation revealed that Ethington could not avoid striking Robertson. Speed appears to not be a factor.

Robertson was transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute with what appears to be serious head, internal, and leg injuries. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
