Meyers Leonard is excited to introduce his first annual basketball camp June 25-27th at his alma mater, Robinson High School. Leonard just finished his second season in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers. He graduated in 2010, where he led his team to a state championship, the only in school history. He then accepted a scholarship offer to play at the University of Illinois, where he spent two years before deciding to enter his name into the NBA draft. He eventually became a lottery pick going #11 overall to the Trail Blazers
“Growing up in Illinois has meant everything to me and I could not be more excited to announce my first annual basketball camp this June. I am thrilled to get back to my hometown to give back and be around young people from Robinson and the surrounding communities. I truly care about the success and development of these kids and I want to be a positive role model in their lives. When I was growing up I had many people step up and be role models for me both on and off the court. I feel like now I’m in position to impact young lives in a positive way,” – Meyers Leonard.
Meyers and his hand picked staff of camp counselors which includes current Trail Blazers assistant coach Kim Hughes who brings over 30 years of professional basketball experience will teach the fundaments and advanced skills necessary to take your child’s game to the next level.
