Planting trees for 100th anniversary of Duke Energy

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – One local organization honors a power company with the gift of trees.

The group Trees, Inc. spent Thursday planting trees around the city of Terre Haute and even making at stop at Indiana State University.

It’s in celebration of 100th Anniversary of Duke Energy and its predecessor.

Officials say they are grateful for the power they’ve provided to western Indiana.

“Duke Energy does a lot of nice things. We’ve worked with them on Earth Day projects before. They helped us when we did the electronic scrap,” explained Joy Sacopulos, Trees, Ind. “They helped us when we did the cloth shopping bags encouraging people not to use so many plastic bags. And they’ve helped us with a lot of projects.
