WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTHI) – While you’re traveling throughout your Memorial Day weekend, law enforcement wants you to remember this phrase: Click it or Ticket.

Now through June 1, police will be out and about, especially along the highways.

Be mindful of construction zones, delayed traffic, and following behind other cars too closely.

It’s all in an effort to keep you and others around you safe on the roads.

“We want you to do your part and drive safe, sober, and buckle up… Allow extra time… Don’t follow too close. Have fun at your family gatherings if you will… But when you come out on the roadway, please make sure that you’re buckled up, you’re driving within the law and you’re driving sober,” said Sergeant Joe Watts, Indiana State Police.

Fines, depending on the situation, can range anywhere from $50 to even $10,000. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
