Trial set for man accused in Knox County teen’s death

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – A trial date has been set for the Vincennes man accused of giving a teenaged female prescription pills, which authorities say, led to her death. Van Pek Thang, 20, of Vincennes, appeared in court Tuesday.

Thang is charged with two felony counts of dealing in a scheduled substance. Knox County Authorities held a press conference May 16 explaining the investigation that led to the man’s arrest. Authorities noted at the age of 20, Thang still attended Lincoln High School, which is likely how he met the teenage girl.

Thang is scheduled to go to trial September 23. If convicted of both felony charges, he could face up to 60 years in prison.

Van Pek Thang also faces an unrelated charge for child molestation. Court documents show he’s scheduled to appear for a trial August 19 for that charge.
