WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Some Wabash Valley students received generous gifts Friday.
The organization “Helping Hands” out of West Terre Haute visited West Vigo High School.
Officials of the group handed out 33 scholarships.
The scholarships were worth $500 each to the student’s school of choice.
That totaled over $16,000.
Officials at West Vigo say students and staff are very happy with the donations.
“It made me feel good because I think it does show the example of how important charity and charitable giving is to our students. And for that example to be out there I think is more important than the money,” West Vigo High School Principal Tom Balitewicz said.
“Helping Hands” started handing out scholarships in 2004.
The number of scholarships given increases each year.
This year’s number of 33 is the most they have ever handed out.
