Terre Haute staying safe with fireworks

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Officials say Terre Haute does an outstanding job when it comes to staying safe with fireworks.

According to Terre Haute Fire Chief Jeff Fisher, over the course of a few years there haven’t been any reported firework related incidents.

However, national statistics show firework-related accidents happen often.

And no matter where you are, you still need to be safe.

“Check your surroundings. Make sure there are no leaves or loose sticks around that may catch fire. If you’re going to shoot off fireworks keep them away from the house, keep them away from your neighbor’s house,” Chief Fisher said.

Fisher also suggests having a hose, bucket of water, or a fire extinguisher close.
